In preparation for major technical and security enhancements to our cloud hosting infrastructure, coupled with the end of life for Maintenance Connection v6.0 (MC v6.0) on December 31st, 2017, Maintenance Connection will be automatically upgrading all standard (non-customized) v6.0 databases to Maintenance Connection v8.0 on December 18th, 2017.
Why We Are Updating Cloud Based v6.0 Databases Now
Throughout the last 18 years of Maintenance Connection's time as a CMMS vendor, we have always gone above and beyond to ensure that we provide the latest iteration of our platform to our customers and allowed them to choose when the upgrade occurs. This process has worked extremely well and has helped our customers to adopt new versions of Maintenance Connection that fit their business rhythm.
Since the release of MC v8.0 in June, we have been hard at work to ensure that our internal processes and commitments to the excellence of our product continue to evolve with the needs of our customers. We have already seen some extremely exciting advancements in 2017, including:
- Iterative updates to MC v8, delivered quarterly to cloud hosted databases, that are designed to provide features and enhancements directly taken from customer feedback
- A new 'Accelerated Base Program' that allows customers to request business critical features be fast-tracked into the next iterative release of Maintenance Connection
Now, as we start to plan for 2018, one of the biggest things that we will be undertaking is the overhaul of our cloud infrastructure. We are doing this for a host of reasons, the most paramount being a dramatic increase in overall stability and security for our cloud environments that match the evolving needs of today's modern enterprises.
As is such, the security advancements and requirements of our new platform do not allow us to continue supporting the hosting environment for Maintenance Connection v6.0 as it currently exists. This necessitates the upgrading of all standard (non-customized) v6.0 cloud hosted databases to MC v8.0 on December 18th, 2017 & all customized MC v6.0 cloud hosted databases by February 28th, 2018 in preparation of our infrastructure upgrade.
