The Microsoft update is listed as a Cumulative Security Update. MC is advising me to uninstall a MS Security Update? If I uninstall the Cumulative Security Update, I have no idea how many security holes I’m opening myself up to in other parts of my system. I don’t think our IT group would approve. I need more information before proceeding.

If indeed this is the case, shouldn’t MC be the one to fix the problem? I know the developers are working on the next version, but they still need to keep this one up until the new version is released.

I have to agree with Jeff Wahl on this. Not to mention, even if our IT department was willing to go along with this, I don't have time to locate all the computers that it would need to be uninstalled on.

When does MC expect to have a more permanent fix?

I uninstalled the Windows Cumulative Security Update yesterday to run reports that I needed to run. This morning Windows reinstalled the security update. Come on MC, please step up and fix this problem. I can't keep doing this uninstall/reinstall dance.

Jeff, I have found a temporary partial work-around that I can use with Smart Reports. I was able to schedule reports to be emailed to myself. If I open them from the email (in smart report mode), it runs the report for me. Obviously I have no opportunity to change the criteria, but it has helped me with reports that I monitor to Finalize and Complete work orders. I kept the emails and now I can access the report whenever I need to.

The issue in itself is a Microsoft issue, not with the code on MC. We were hoping that Microsoft would have resolved sooner as there has been numerous complaints from the multitude of programs that have broke. From the latest information we have gathered Microsoft is going to fix the issue, but the earliest Microsoft can patch a release will be mid January.

With the being said the development team will change focus from 7.0 to an emergency fix for this issue. However it will still take quite a bit of time, as this bug effects multiple parts of MC and a lot of it deals with core code. The team has begin working on a solution and rewriting the code, but it will most likely take a couple of weeks for the changes. I will continue to post any updates we have here. Thanks for your patience and let us know if there are any additional questions.

Is this just an IE 11 issue?? Could rolling back to IE10 be a possible solution? I cannot uninstall this update on multiple user's machines, considering they will have the updates again the next day. Let alone uninstalling what seems like a major security patch.

    Mike,

We tested IE10 yesterday and the users with IE10 that did the cumlative update did not have any of the issues that IE11 did. With that being said rolling back to IE10 could also be a work around until we can update our code.

I uninstalled IE11 minutes ago and am back up working fine. Thanks for the suggestion. This is a fix I can live with.

Remember to uncheck "Install new versions automatically".
    Click the gear wheel.
    Click About Internet Explorer.
    Uncheck the box.

I have done the rollback to IE 10 and all seems to be working with the update. This seems like the best option because the security hole is patched and it doesn't break functionality of Maintenance Connection.

Jeff, you can also hide the IE11 update in windows updates. Like in the article below:

I have been unable to generate PM Work Orders since the Windows update three days ago, but following the advice above I have uninstalled IE11, reverting to IE10, and all seems to working again.

    UPDATE 12/16/2014 4:30am PST

We have pushed some code changes to our production environment that should counter the issues caused by the Microsoft Security Update. Because we needed to modify a great deal of code, there could be some unexpected issues. We are currently aware of two side effects that our outside of our control.

    1. There will be a small amount of flickering when some windows are opened.

    2. Users will be able to click outside of the dimensions of a pop-up window. This will cause the pop-up window to disappear. To bring it back users will just need to click where the top bar of the pop-up window was, or reopen the pop-up.

Once we have been able to verify there are no major issues we will make the code changes available to our on-premise customers. Instructions for on-premise customers will be added to this news posting when they are available.

Any other issues or nuances should be reported to Support. Thank you for patience and please let us know if you have any additional questions or concerns.

For anyone following this, MS has put out an update KB3025390 (Some web application modal dialog boxes don't work correctly in Internet Explorer 11 after you install update 3008923).

I know MC pushed out some code but here is MS's fix for it.
