Preventive versus Reactive: This is the goal of maintenance-minded individuals.

I feel like this is an important enough issue that an email should have been sent to your customers once the issue was confirmed. Your customer's administrators could have notified their local users of this issue preventing them from becoming frustrated with the system and having the admins scrambling through all of the normal reactive procedures of reboots, clearing cache's, etc. trying to fix the problem.

What about FireFox? Is that an option?

    Joanna,

I regret to say that I agree with you lol.

I created a support ticket last week about an issue and that is when I was notified that there was a chrome issue. Articles like these are great; but if we do not get notified of them then it does us no good.

I did, too, Kyler. They probably could have saved everyone a lot of time and energy if they had sent out the email to the admins when they found out about it.

I find it interesting that a day after MC upgrades to 8.4, all of a sudden Chrome is causing problems.  Kind of makes me wonder about the root cause.

It started before the MC upgrade. I submitted my support ticket about this last week and so did Kyler, apparently.

    John,

Angela is correct. This issue start well before the MC upgrade. See my screenshot of a discussion regarding chrome below two weeks ago. I instructed all my users to quit using chrome a week ago.

    Thanks,

I can confirm that the MC v8.4 upgrade had nothing to do with the problems we are experiencing. When contacting MC with a support ticket on October 29, I was told it was a known issue with Chrome 70. By then it was too late to stop our automatic Chrome updates. I have to agree with Joanna about the lack of communication.... Not a fan of IE but making it work.

FWIW, I have found that LastPass password organizer application has an issue with Form Fill as well on Chrome that just started.

As many of you stated this is issue is not related to the MC 8.4 upgrade but is related to chrome v70. First round of Chrome issues were reported the day after v70 went live.  Chrome is aware of the issue, has a fix that was planned to be deployed this week, but as it is Friday I would not expect it to happen until next week.

I agree that communication could have been better, but please keep in mind that many of the severe issues related to this were not identified until recently.  When the first round of issues were reported, they were more annoyances then data integrity issues.  It took us longer then I would have liked to narrow down exactly what was happening.  Every key contact should have received an email blast yesterday, and in the future we will work on making sure it gets out a little earlier next time (hopefully there is not a next time).

We are in the process of developing a script that will correct any data integrity issues that arose from Chrome, and once those are completed I will update this article for any on premise customers experiencing the issue.  For anyone in the cloud, the current plan is to run the script against all DBs each night at 11pm to ensure part quantities are properly matching against what is on order or added to a WO.  We will do so until Chrome puts out a release and customers have had ample time to get the new patch installed.  I will continue to add new comments as more information is available.

    Ken,

    Thanks for the information.

I would hope that I am a key contact and I never got received an email.

    Best regards,

    Klyer,

You are listed as a Key contact and should have received the communication.  I will check with Marketing to see if they can tell from their end if it went to you.

    Ken,

I have identified that Darin Riggs received an email regarding this on Wednesday, November the 7th; however, I did not receive anything.

If anything, I should be the one to receive these notifications and not Darin Riggs. Or both of us should.

    Thanks,

    Kyler,

Looks like you had opted out of email communication from us.  I just need your verification you want back in and we can opt you back in.

    Ken,

How does that happen? I don't think I would do something like that.

Could you tell me when this was done. I have received notification in the past....

Yes, Please opt me back in.

    Thanks,

    Ken,

How does this effect the previous script we were given to run on our databases?

This will be a refined version to correct the issues we have discovered with on hand qty, onorder and part transaction balance numbers.  The initial scripts corrected the spaces in the bin and the partid, but manual updates were needed on all affected POs to have the numbers updated by the appropriate triggers.  This script will remove that manual process.

    Kyler,

I cannot see when the opt-out happened, but we were able to find that it looks like an email had a hard bounce from your side which caused the opt out to happen.  Maybe one of the announcements that went out had an attachment or something that caused your firewall to block it.  Right now you are opted back in, and I will check again after the next announcement to make sure it did not opt out again.

There is a new version of Chrome that was just released, that from my testing does alleviate the issues users have been experiencing.  We are continuing to build out and revise the script to fix any part data issues that arose from the of chrome, and I will post more as that makes progress.

Can anyone else comment on the latest Chrome update?

Does it still appear to be working?

I'm still having issues. I got a blank Details tab when I went to update someone's Labor record just now. I'm operating Google Chrome version 70.0.3538.102 in case anyone is wondering. Updated it this morning.

I have updated to .102 version of Chrome and so far have not had any of the previous challenges.  I also have two user testing the newest version of Chrome as of yesterday morning and again, so far no issues.

Angela,  I cannot seem to replicate this, nor have I heard of any other reports of this happening.  If clearing cache does not fix the issue I would suggest contacting support and they can work with you to see what is going on.

There will be an update to this article made soon, as we do have a fix for any part / PO issues that occurred as a result of Chrome. It is important to update to the newest version of chrome before running the fix.  If any users are still using the old version of Chrome it is likely this will need to be run multiple times.

For any customer that is on-prem review this article for files and instructions to correct the inventory data issues.
